In case it helps anyone reading this...
I recently switched from Google search to Duckduckgo on all my devices.
Unlike 5+ years ago, I don't feel like I'm missing out. The search results are what I'd expect, and in many cases better than what I expected.
I have not yet found myself retrying a search in Google.
