Bitcoin, Tor, Nostr, Signal, Simplex, etc. are awesome but not enough for Indians to be censorship-resistant.
The atrocious Telecom bill passed in the union legislature at the end of 2023 gives the union government more discretion in imposing internet bans.
It also has a provision that requires anyone wanting to provide telecom services or to possess radio equipment (things one would want to do during an internet ban for mesh networks and whatnot) to get permission from the union government first.
We need to find and learn about ways to be censorship-resistant at the lower layers of the internet (TCP/IP) stack that consist of telecommunication services, autonomous systems and physical networking infrastructure.
This is especially important when our internet connection and payments for it themselves are KYC'ed and linked to our Aadhar ID's, hence everything.
