I hadn't been here for a few days but I think you're right actually. The bottom line is that "process" in psychology and neuroscience is way underspecified. Because our theories/studies are not sufficiently formalized, precise or "mechanistic", the term gets used as a potent filler. It's way too malleable and in that way deviates strongly from the "things vs. processes that philosophers talk about. But as Cian said it can also overlap!
