Not sure how I feel about ANZAC Day. I recall a time when many pākeha, including me if I'm honest, wanted ANZAC Day to be our 'national' day because Waitangi Day was so contentious and divisive. I've moved on from that, but many people haven't. And wearing a poppy seems almost compulsory these days, especially for pubic figures. That seems performative to me. But I know the sacrifices made by so many, needs and requires remembrance and commemoration. I find it all a bit confusing.
