Plus, in my mind, it signals Biden that all he has to do to beat Trump is not beat Trump, effectively losing leverage over a candidate when what should be happening is letting him know we want him to be a better candidate.
Good polling makes candidates think it's easy. Knowing he has to sway more people his way should effectively make him a better candidate.
The worst thing to happen to the democratic party is having shitty candidates to run against.
