I remember reading a quote from Elon Musk where he stated that paying with credit cards is crazy because you have to share all information that a receiver needs to make further payments and steal from you, akin to sharing the private key in Bitcoin terms.
It was a couple of years ago. But now I can't find that quote or any reference to it. I asked around if anybody else remembers that quote, and might even remember where to find it?

So, somebody asked ChatGPT. And here is what it answered:

Yes, Elon Musk made a similar statement during an interview on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, episode #1169, which aired on September 7, 2018. Here's the quote:

You can find the podcast episode on YouTube or other podcast platforms. The quote appears around the 2 hour, 2 minute, and 30 second mark in the conversation.

But unfortunately, that quote was not part of the transcript of that episode. And I listened it through. There was nothing remotely related in this episode. Hence ChatGPT invented the fact it reported.


Next, I asked the Alpaca 7b model, and here is what it responded:

Yes. Elon Musk said this quote during an interview on The Tim Ferris Show (episode #145): "Credit cards are crazy because they're like giving someone your Social Security number and bank account information, so you can make a payment."

In reality, Tim Ferris episode #145 is not even interviewing Elon.

So, be cautious. Those models invent facts and lie to you without disclaimer.
And hey, if somebody could point me to the real quote I am looking for, that would be great.
