I've tried reya (npub1zfs…w445)'s https://github.com/lumehq/coop but it never worked for me, I wish it did.
And I've been waiting for futr to be ready.
I did https://git.fiatjaf.com/nchat but it's still very barebones.
Meanwhile https://github.com/mikedilger/gossip works.
The most critic situation is mobile now. Amethyst works super well for NIP-17 messages, but I kinda wanted a still smaller, leaner, just DM client. 0xchat could have been that, but it has too much bloat.
Of course all of that has to be paired with a relay list of just one or two reliable relays that don't leak your incoming DMs.
