PSA:
censorship resistance and unrestricted free relays are not inseparable things
1. relays can have rate limited free tier access and free trials
2. unrestricted free access to relays will be filled to capacity with spam, once a sufficient percentage of spams lead to money
3. outbox model could literally mean no such thing as big relays if everyone could get inbound post access and auth from their friends clients (this is not very practical, however inbound relay bouncing COULD be a viable service alternative to paying for full relay service) - and this is more censorship resistant, btw, because only your friends can fetch events from your relay, not just anyone
people who think that the end of spam free nostr is a death knell for the protocol are just being ridiculous
people who think that auth is a really bad privacy violation aren't thinking about how your queries contain most frequently your NPUB anyway, you are leaking an identity/location data if you don't use tor or other VPN
