About one-fourth of my way through Consciousness Explained by Daniel Dennett, I am:
1. Finding it a challenging read and wondering if that’s because I’m not that bright or because I only took one philosophy course in college.
2. Finding that Dennett was correct in noting early in the book that he would be introducing new ways of thinking about some things that by their unfamiliarity would make it easy to fall back into old habits of thinking.
3. Wondering if I am struggling to follow how the analogies Dennett uses are part of a well organized theme is because of 1 and 2, above, or because his writing style does not always segue smoothly from one point to the next.
I am understanding and enjoying the individual points he made, so far, and am hoping a major theme becomes more apparent to me as I get further into the book.
