The third edition of the Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi Festival for Camel Racing 2024, organized by the Sharjah Equestrian Club, concluded its five-day events at the Al Dhaid Racing Arena, with the participation of riders from the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The festival featured a variety of events for all age groups, including young riders, and witnessed a strong competition among the participants. The events included 126 rounds in two sessions, morning and evening, with valuable prizes and 10 trophies awarded to the winners. The evening session was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Statistics and Community Development Department, who watched the events for the 'Houl' and 'Zmol' categories, which covered a distance of 6 km. The evening session also saw a large participation of camel owners from the UAE and Gulf countries, with 'Maksab' ridden by Mohammed Saeed Al Awaidi Al Amri winning the main 'Houl' category and receiving the Sharjah Ruler's Sword, while 'Mutayeb' ridden by Saif Mohammed Al Khaili won the 'Zmol' category and received the Sharjah Ruler's Gun. Abdullah Mohammed Al Ketbi, President of the Sharjah Equestrian Club, stated that the festival is an annual honor from the Sharjah Ruler to camel owners, and that it is not just about racing camels, but also about the unity and gathering of camel owners, as well as guests from the UAE and Gulf countries. He expressed his gratitude to the club's board members, authorities, and institutions that contributed to the success of the festival, which attracted a large number of participants from within and outside the UAE, and a large audience of camel owners, riders, and camel racing enthusiasts.
