PSA - if any of you received new luggage as a holiday gift, and your old gear is still in gently used shape, please consider donating it to your local childrens’ services organization. Many foster kids move between multiple foster homes with the little they have shoved into a black trash bag. Same goes for kids experiencing homelessness with a parent in a shelter. Especially helpful are soft bags like duffelbags that can be easily stored under a bed.
The initiative in my county is called “Duffels of Dignity” but your local childrens’ services will likely also have a similar program.
