The Ministry of Health registered 45,792 doctors in the Mais Médicos program, which represents the largest number of enrolled professionals since its creation in 2013. Of the total number of enrolled professionals, 93% are Brazilians (42,383 professionals). Among them, 25,594 have a professional registration in Brazil and 16,789 are foreign-trained. Other 3,309 doctors are foreign nationals with the ability to practice the profession. Women represent the majority of enrollments: 26,864, which is approximately 58%. The enrollments were closed on the last day, August 8. The Mais Médicos program aims to strengthen primary health care offered by the Unified Health System (SUS) by bringing doctors to priority regions, remote areas, and areas with high vulnerability and lack of these professionals. The public call edict provides for 3,064 vacancies distributed among 1,620 municipalities and 108 destinations for 26 special indigenous sanitary districts (DSEIs). The program's schedule predicts that, from July 2 to July 10, doctors with a registration in Brazil and Brazilian or foreign nationals who have completed the acclimation and evaluation stages will begin their activities. Mais Médicos professionals integrate Family Health teams and provide closer patient care and follow-up. When necessary, they refer patients to specialist consultations. The information is recorded in the Electronic Medical Record (e-SUS APS), allowing for integration of patient data between primary and specialized care, including consultations and exams. After the program's restart in 2023 and expansion, the Ministry of Health's goal is to reach 28,000 professionals in 4,547 municipalities by the end of 2025. Currently, the program has around 24,900 doctors working in 4,200 municipalities, representing 77% of the national territory. Among these locations, 1,700 are areas with high social vulnerability indices.
