acquaintances vs connections. There's also an interesting divide between how much time I've spent with both. The people I spent the most time with are not the people that i necessarily connected the deepest with. So, it's like a lucky moment when you get more time with a connection. but usually there's time/space restraints like someone's moving away or visiting for a summer, etc. Or maybe there's a time in someone's life when they are open for connecting and later it's more like an acquaintance.
Also connections can become more like acquaintances.I feel like i can't go back to how some people were before they were married for example, and that's OK.
I just made a list of "acquaintances" over the years whose names I still remember as a judge of how much we were friends.
To your point about connections in younger years, I do see a lot of people's names clustered around university time and shared living in my 20s. There's a couple people from yoga class in my 30s, and a couple names I know from Bitcoin that I see on a weekly.
But in general it's a lot fewer as I get older. As far as friends go, i'm just looking for people that i can see on a weekly basis in person.
Hmm, I'm thinking I need to expand the surface area of acquaintances to make more connections.
