Around 2000, I worked with a guy who was old-school datacenter. Old school. He judged you on the *wraps* you used to tie the cables in the racks. He used waxed cotton string. Zero zip ties. And everything he did was *pristine*. It was perfect.
Unless everyone you work with is that good, that considerate, that opinionated, about every layer of the stack… you should not build or manage your own datacenters. And that was just *how you tie the cables*.
