Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic added their support to Suriname's candidate to lead the OAS
The governments of Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic have endorsed Suriname's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Albert Ramdin, to succeed Uruguay's Luis Almagro as Secretary General of the Organization of American States. “This endorsement reflects the commitment to regional unity, the strengthening of multilateralism and the consolidation of the democratic institutionality of the Americas, at a crucial moment for its stability and development”, the governments of these three countries stated in a joint communiqué.
