Regarding Threads reaching 100 million users in under one week, even though the platform lacks many things technically and managerially...
In the 1990s and early 2000s, the General Motors Saturn Division made and sold a lot of really mediocre, mostly undistinguished cars. And for years both then and ever since, thousands upon thousands of Saturn car fans would drive long distances, across the country, to meet each other in empty fields and vast parking lots. They called these events "Saturn family reunions."
The takeaway from all this?
Never underestimate the enormous need of people to meet in large venues that lack features in order to chat with total strangers.
P.S. I have no plans to join Treads or anything Zuck. I'm happy being here, chatting with all of you.
