So... lemme get this straight:

#Elon flawlessly delivers again:

- he got NASA's new Lunar Lander to the moon no prob.

#NASA, on the other hand:

- Forgot to unlock the laser range finder's latch (following the pre-launch checklist 3 times)
- Odysseus descended at 6mph instead of 1, w/a lateral speed of 2mph instead of 0.
- So... with 6x the lateral inertia due to 1/6th the gravity... oopsies! fall down go boom?

And Elon:

- can routinely, vertically land a 230' tall rocket on a barge, floating in the ocean.
- I should have accepted that job at SpaceX when they kept sending me offer letters... It wasn't any further away from home, but it was the middle of summer, and my office overlooked the beach, literally on the Redondo Beach Pier - I just couldn't pass on all those bikinis.

My friend Robby Workman once said, "Ultimately, shit will happen. It also happens to fly farther when using tools."

The Chinese did a spectacular crash and burn on the moon just a couple of months ago with their lander.

By that measure, NASA and IM did pretty good, considering, sort of.

At the time, Buzz Aldrin was quoted as saying that he and Neil only had 15 seconds of fuel left after committing to land even though they were a few miles off course. It is still dubious whether Armstrong was going to land regardless, in one of those, "Damn the torpedos, full steam ahead", moments.

Point being in all of this, I don't think there's really ever been a completely flawless exercise in outer space, not that close enough counts as in hand grenades and horseshoes alone, but really folks, once again, might I remind y'all...

"Ultimately, shit will happen. It also happens to fly farther when using tools."

Or is it the best laid plans of mice and men?

Hey, we're doing our honest to goodness best here!
