Just one point, shipping things on a boat in the ocean is so much more efficient than any other method we have for moving things. Why do you think all of the cheap Chinese crap is put on ships on the Eastern coast of China, and not instead put on trains going West?
Not to mention that all of this electrically powered crap and batteries and the lithium and whatever other shit needed to make it will need to be transported, and if it's not on boats it will take several orders of magnitude more energy to transport.
