No matter what the owners say, the place you work is not a “family”. They don’t value your labor or autonomy—only how you contribute to their enrichment. Always look out for your own interests first.
The people who birthed you and/or raised you may or may not be your “family”. If they are trying to force you into a role that denies who you are as a person, if they mock your dreams and belittle you, then you owe them nothing.
You get to choose your family—the ones who listen, support, and love you. I hope you find many of them. When you do, keep them close and protect them at all costs. They will do the same for you. That is what family does.
