I'm not sure what to make of people who are more excited about finding extra-terrestrial societies than about finding underwater societies. The latter is incomparably cheaper than the former, and few people would claim we figured out all the marine life yet.
Does it have to do with the sheer scale of space breaking our limited brains, or just with a narrow anthropocentric definition of "society", or both?
