surprisingly, it seems that this fact is the most problematic INSIDE queer circles. numerous times I have been shunned or excluded from non-cis-men LGBTQ+ only spaces because I didn't "look" or "act" non-binary. it wasn't said out loud, but it was clearly a case of "you don't look like a woman or woman-lite, so you're clearly pretending being one of us so you can be a nuisance/predator"

i have talked about that on here before but it's still a sore point in my memory. i don't "look" non-binary: i don't dye my hair, i don't have a funky cool hair cut, I don't have piercings, I wear plain business casual clothes, and of course my physical appearance described earlier. they're stereotypes, but according to some groups, they're more like mandatory items. sorry, didn't realise the dress code was so strict in a space meant to break the mould and emancipate ourselves from a restrictive society
