Caveat that I’m in the US, so my exposure to your government is through what I read….
I tend to a see Socialism at or even below the level of state control/intervention where the UK is. The ‘state owns everything’ definition is more strictly Communism in my view.
Now, to stir the pot, here in the US, I don’t think we have anything near socialism, but rather fascism, no matter which side of the uniparty coin lands up every four years.
