Jazztodon artist of the week: Cannonball Adderley! One of the greatest alto players in jazz and a leader of "hard bop" from the 1960s-70s, Adderley had a crossover hit in 1966 with Joe Zawinul's "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." Adderley worked with Miles Davis, first as a member of the Davis sextet, appearing on the seminal records "Milestones" and "Kind of Blue," and then on his own "Somethin' Else". He was the elder brother of jazz trumpeter Nat Adderley, who was a longtime member of his band.
