The flowers on this Kaka Beak (clianthus) are named for their similarity to the beak of a local parrot, curved and sharply pointed.
Sadly, the plant is pretty much extinct in the wild. My one is starting to look a little straggly and unhappy, but there's a white-flowered one I've seen that looks *beautiful* - I think having one of each would look awesome!
