I'm building something that historically would need the support of at least a small company, with several different knowledge/skill domains required that would generally be different specialists handling. I'm a dude in a remote cottage with the bare minimum skill in all of these areas (though, actually I think I have a higher level skill than I feel like I do maybe?) and it's the first time I'm tying them all together like this for a long time. The end result may end up being kind of shitty... But equally it will be something cool that wouldn't exist otherwise. And it'll enrich the lives of at least some of the lil people who play with it.
