Re-writing it didn't feel like work; I felt joyful that I'd finally solved a difficult puzzle, and now had a good story to show for it. I also re-wrote the last 4 chapters twice, going in very different directions.\n\nI haven't made the same mistakes since that book, but neither do I hesitate now to make major, sweeping revisions when necessary.
