Yeah I've noticed this in the #bitcoin community in particular; I think it's as much "fashion statement" as "serious opsec." But then again, no privacy system is 100%... it's all about raising the bar for de-anonymization.
What I find interesting is how it's emerging as a new social norm, like part of someone's persona. Like DJ Provai from Kneecap or Subcomandante Marcos, it's an "IRL pseudonym".... "public Fortnite skin"
