Every time I’m home from Oregon, I think: holy shit, Michigan has to be one of the most over-built states in terms of horizontal infrastructure in the country. It's astonishing to see the extensive road network and highways that crisscross the state, much of which is in disrepair. I don’t even think Portland has any significant stretch of 8 lane highways, but sure enough, Flint has a 10-laner. No wonder why they needed an emergency financial mamager, as did so many others.",
