As others have said: this is fascism.
On another note, I've been in the same room as JD Vance, as part of a closed-door tech event in San Francisco where lots of tech execs were singing his praises. (I was not.) I'd say I wonder how they feel now, but I'm not convinced it will have changed much for most of them.
