Biology is messy. You can be straight and unable to reproduce humans simply because you are infertile.
People are biology. Getting het up over gay is as crazy as deciding that because most people have blue eyes or brown eyes, green eyed people have some kind of problem.
As to the mental side - yes, there does seem to be a huge over mentalkisation of normal range states. Just view them as states, not illnesses.
Mental states only become illnesses when they present danger or distress to the person in the state or those around them.
A gay person can be mentally ill, but gay isn't mental illness.
