I get ever so slightly annoyed when people talk about #Git and #Github like they're the same thing.
I guess it's because these days, most people's first experience with Git is connected to Github.
I first learnt Git as a completely offline VCS with no remote connection whatsoever. Then later, we put a server on our LAN and used a network share as our Git remote. Then later, we installed a local copy of Gitlab on that server... and only much, MUCH later did we switch to Github as our remote git repo.
