It took me a while, but I think I finally understand what people mean when they say “Bitcoin is the stable coin”.
These two graphs do a good job at summarizing.
⁃ Over time, all fiat currencies depreciate against gold (a stable asset)
⁃ Over time, fiat currencies take turns so to speak being the global reserve asset
Therefore, the true stable asset to hold your wealth in over time, across boarders, and regardless of who holds political power, is Bitcoin.
Stablecoins (Tether, Circle, etc.) may be filling this need right now, but they are not the long-term solution.
