An Edgelord is a person who strives for Klout and Socials credibility by adopting a contrarian/alternative position. Often that position is controversial and designed to cause debate and even discomfort. That position is usually just for display and they may be actually quite conservative IRL.
Alleged to have poor social skills and often little life experience.
Examples: The Empire was right, Qanon, {insert anime genre} unpopular take, Gamergate
