I've always felt the same way, but at the same time, being able to describe the branches of a CAS as “winner\" and \"loser\" is *really* helpful terminology, and it even scales decently beyond 2-way races. It also forms a tiny reminder that all racey protocols must have some monotonic convergence to be valid (i.e. at least one winner on each round), which is helpful mental shaping IMO.",
