Ryu Fukui - A Letter from Slowboat
I've held off playing this, because it's Fukui's last recorded work, recorded at Slowboat with the trio he'd been playing with for 10 years. I shouldn't have waited, because it's great - I'm so glad his wife, Yasuko, encouraged him to record it.
It's not a RvG recording--it doesn't have that sense of space--but it's a great representation of what it must have sounded like there.
Another nice pressing from WRWTFWW's Jazz imprint.
