Then crypto happened, which is an actual solution to most of these problems. But comes with its own, new problems.
The closest to "solved" that I've seen this, is very controversial. Monero opt-in JavaScript miners. I know, I know. But it truly allows consumers to choose pay the creator tiny amounts. Nothing else has come this close. And I'm sure nothing will in foreseeable future .
