Any action other than jacking interest rates way up will just offset the problem. In a number of years prices will be right back where they were, even if you deported half the population and started building new houses like mad.
Remember, housing prices were outpacing wages before there was significant immigration pressure, and the big, manic jumps in price happened when interest rates were placed on the floor for political reasons.
