Not really, but when the left gets a hold of something, they go to extremes. MMT was a bunch of observations based on accounting- it turns out a lot of stuff mainstream economists tells us don't work because they just ignore how the money must flow. So there are good insights in it, but then it gets warped because the activist types can't do accounting and just want to print money for everything.
