I think that the great strength of jazz lies not so much in the masterworks by the major innovators as it does in the solid albums by excellent musicians who were having a great day at the office. Like this one.

I think I've got a good handle on the former, but still, after 30 years of listening, still finding treasures like this that I didn't previously know. For which I'm very grateful!
