Being only 5 of them at the time, he sent them off with the promise that should they return with 5 more friends, he would honour their request.
For many years since, Isaac has given of himself tirelessly, to where he finds himself today with around 70 children participating regularly.
5 generous members of the community, Desiree, Darren, Garret and Johannes, stepped forward in 2022 to assist Isaac with his enormous task. A board was formed to register the project as an NPO, and some additional volunteers are currently being recruited as coaches.
In early 2023 we were fortuitously introduced to Isaac and his team and recognised the potential benefits which a program like ours could bring to a severely underfunded project like theirs. The work which they are doing cannot be understated and deserves more recognition.
We believe that this presents us with a unique opportunity, to not only raise awareness and sorely needed funding for this very worthwhile project, but also to demonstrate that Bitcoin can be used effectively to empower the most underserved and vulnerable in our communities.
We feel honoured to have found such a wonderful team to work with and look forward to collaborating with them. We'll soon introduce you to the rest of the talented individuals who head up the transformative Swellendam Spurs project, some of whom will also be joining our team!
