hazlin no plap time (npub1hlw…psnv) shotcut hasn't crashed on me this past month (windows.) i have asked very little of it though. taking a VOD from twitch and just cutting some frames.
i've been told some of the crashing of NLEs has to do with using improper codecs. in production film you're supposed to crunch all your film to ProRes or DNxHD proxies. they are fucking huge files but they are designed in such a way that the program can easily read a random frame cheaply.
using mp4s puts strain on your box. if you are doing like 4 layers of video, then ask it to seek, its having to go back and resolve interframes all over the place.
for streaming you are already supposed to use keyframes every 1-3 frames anyway, which is what i send out of OBS.
