Some of these articles show that Twitter’s rate of compliance with Indian takedown requests increased under Musk. Rather than merely stay flat.
If it were Twitter alone, they could say, “sorry, we are not going to censor those accounts. You can ban us from the country I guess.” That would at least put pressure on the government in the sense that it’s a big decision, and would anger a lot of people to entirely ban Twitter. There is a good chance they would drop it. Twitter would come out looking strong if so.
But if other business interests are involved, like Tesla, then there are more reasons to be on Modi’s good side.
