Grew up Roman Catholic and had read the bible cover to cover two or three times by the time I got to university.
After reading about the history of the bible through things like the councils of Nicaea, where various books were accepted, but others discarded, the whole thing started to unravel for me.
Current Christianity treats the bible as à la carte theology. They rationalize away the parts they don't like.
The whole thing is constructed on a foundation of sand.
