yeah I’m willing to go way out on a limb and say that authoritarian governments are not a prerequisite to Christian virtue.

Hierarchy is a different matter, and so it the rightful authority of God.

We all exist in a hierarchy whether we like it or not, it’s not optional, it’s a fact of existence.

And God has authority over all of us whether we like it or not.

So in that sense, yes you need hierarchy and authority. But human totalitarianism is the opposite end of this spectrum.
