I was checking up on Cerro Dominador, the technically ambitious tower and heliostat combined solar thermal and PV plant in Chile (prime location for solar thermal electricity generation). The news ... doesn't look great.
Molten salt is tricky stuff, and if you let it get cooler than about 250 degrees Celsius it turns solid in all your pipes. And, er, the tanks keep leaking. PV's working fine though.
