I'm trying to think of the circumstances under which, for example, the US would allow the extradition of Clarence Thomas to stand trial in an international court. Even under a relatively internationalist president like Biden, that feels like a stretch.
If a corruption law doesn't bind the greatest and most powerful, then it loses its legitimacy and becomes just another weapon in their hands: that is, another avenue for corruption.
