When I was at the MOD, management insisted on the removal of gaseous fire suppression systems from our anechoic chambers, which are lined with graphite-loaded polyurethane foam spikes.
Polyurethane foam produces cyanide when it burns. I'd happily accept the risk of feeling a little bit giddy from exposure to Halon 1311 than feeling very dead from exposure to toxic smoke, but apparently that was not adequate to keep them.
A couple of years later, a chamber in Farnborough caught fire and the fire brigade noped out of fighting the fire because of the toxic smoke. Pretty much just shut the door and let it burn itself out. Fortunately, nobody was injured from smoke inhalation, but the lab was a total write-off.
