most retirees or near retirees have their life savings tied up in real estate. Not the best solution as you must sell to claim the money but they will fight tooth and nail to prevent lower prices.
Towns and cities are charging exorbitant costs for permits. Land transfer taxes etc.
What are your suggestions to lower housing costs? Lower safety standards perhaps, reduce insulation standards, perhaps but there is always going to be an aggrieved party. It's a worldwide problem.
