It seems quite obscure and might be my fault... I did find a work-around, but haven't got to the bottom of the real problem. But I don't let go of a challenge easily. Linux is great for that. On Windows/MacOS, most people would just say "oh well, it doesn't work, and there's nothing I can do about it".
