when I do internet archaeology, specifically for ancient sonic fandom sites while doing recap attack research, I find so much joy. it's like when the boomers say they used to be allowed outside to play and run around wherever they wanted. so much of the early internet was just young people playing in a way that would probably get called cringey now and kids would be too embarrassed to do but tbh it's so pure and real.
